Accreditation, Graduation, and Diploma
Is the Advanced Academics program accredited?
Yes! Advanced Academics is fully accredited by both the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) and the North Central Association (NCA). Courses are aligned to state standards. What does that mean? It means you’re in a quality program.
Who will issue my diploma if I take my classes online?
Typically, the school with which we partner will issue the diploma on behalf of the online program.
If I take my courses online, will I attend a graduation ceremony?
Typically students who are enrolled in the virtual program will participate in either a graduation with their fellow online students or in some cases will graduate in the same ceremony as their fellow students at the local high school. Graduation will be determined by the partnering school.
How it Works
How does this work?
Because all of our courses are online, Advanced Academics offers students flexibility that they might not receive in a traditional setting. Our curriculum is challenging, interactive, and self-paced. All of our courses are backed by our staff of highly-qualified, certified teachers who are available via instant message, phone, or e-mail. We also offer a 24/7 technical support so that you can get help when you need it.
What grade levels does Advanced Academics serve?
We offer the ability to serve grades 6-12; however, it is up to our partnering schools to determine what grade levels they will accept.
Is online learning for me?
That’s up to you! The online student must take responsibility for his or her own learning. In any online education program, the student must be a self-directed learner, be motivated to study, and have a basic grasp of the Internet.
What is the cost of taking online courses?
Most students could take their courses online for FREE. Our standard cost per online course enrollment is $400. However, if Advanced Academics is a partner with your local school or district, the same funding used for traditional students can be used for online students. All of our courses are set up on a 120 calendar day schedule, similar to a typical semester. However, students have the ability to move through the courses at their own paces.
Teaching & Curriculum
Who is my teacher?
Your teacher for each course is a certified classroom teacher who has experience teaching online courses. Your first introduction to your teacher will be in a welcome e-mail letter that you will receive when your course is approved by your district. You will also receive a welcome phone call from your teacher after your enrollment is approved. Your teacher will give you an overview of the course and answer any questions you have.
What materials are needed in order to take Advanced Academics courses?
Most of the courses offered by Advanced Academics can be taken 100% online, so there is very little need for any additional materials. Some advanced courses may require additional materials. The only things you really need to begin your coursework are Internet access and a computer. All of our courses can be accessed through dial-up Internet access, but high-speed access is recommended.
What do I need to do to succeed in an online course?
When you take an online course, you need to prepare yourself as you would for any course in a classroom setting. Remember, we’re completely online, so your teacher is online and not face-to-face, and your textbook is on a computer. Wow, how about that technology! In an online course, time management is important to your success because most activities can be accomplished on your own and you don’t necessarily have to be online at the same time as your teacher or other students.
How do I receive credit for courses?
Upon successful completion of each course, your teacher will send you a congratulatory e-mail. Your school district will grant you credit for your course if you successfully complete it.
